As you’ll guys know that the external hard drives are considered to be the most legit way to store the day. Although it might be the traditional pattern of staging data like photos and videos through it’s an evergreen norm that you could take in your consideration.
The only con is that you need to carry it physically everywhere in order to make use of it. My personal choice goes to WD 2TB Passport Portable external HDD.
Price:- Rs. 5,199
Cloud storage is something that is being some trendy thing nowadays to carry your data everywhere. You don’t need to have any physical entity with you, instead, everything is being stored at a server. Nothing to worry it’s a private server served to you.
Whereas if you’re willing to store your pictures then okay to choose cloud storage over the physical HDD, but in case if you want to store video then it might take little effort and time too.
3.DAS (Direct Attached Storage)
DAS is at fed in your PCs and it’s truly not portable. But it’s the cheapest storage solution you could make into consideration. It’s too safe to store all of your footage and pictures just because you’ll have a physical norm with you.
Through its affordable too so you don’t have to worry a lot about the budget.
4.NAS (Network Attached Storage)
NAS is one of my favorites and works similar to the DAS that’s connected to the internet which can be accessed from anywhere you want. It might be parallel to the cloud storage but requires breakdown in terms of data separation.
For every single traveler and photographer, it’s better to acquire their services to store the data more often.
Everything You Need To Know About My Setup
My setup is pretty minimal, following are some of the essentials I do have that can be used for storage my photos and videos:-
- Synology DiskStation DS220j
- Separate Barracuda 4TB internal HDD
- Samsung T7 500GB SSD
- Sandisk 128 GB ultra SDXC memory card
When it comes to the NAS there are tons of options available in the market that you can choose apart from that you can even customize it accordingly as per convenience. Brands like QNAP & Synology used to offer this kind of service.
Apart from this Samsung T7 is the storage type that I personally like the most and usually Store most of my photos into that only. It is pretty cheaper and gets the job done without any hiccups.
How I Actually Store My Data?
Till now you might be considering which of the accessories I used to store all of my footage first ok now let’s get to the main point of the actual process of storing my data, here’s how I do it:-
- Firstly I used to make a note that NAS is always connected to the internet router. Whereas and to carry SSD with me in order to take a backup from my camera.
- Whatever I used to shoot with my camera I used to keep it on the SD card itself throughout the day.
- While travelling every single night I used to take backup in my SST drive so that to store it safely and reuse the SD card.
- Rather than this I also store a few of the pictures in cloud storage so that I can access it from anywhere.
This was all about storing your pictures and videos in an authentic manner. Although there might be an instance where I don’t carry any physical drive or so, in that case, the only option that remains is the drive that I could use to store my data.
I hope this might be helpful for you to maximize your storage ability.
